NEBOSH ICC
Introduction
The International Construction Certificate is designed for supervisors and managers within the international construction industry and is designed to provide a sound breadth of underpinning knowledge that enables them to discharge more effectively their duties with respect to health and safety in construction activities.
Holders of the International Construction Certificate are entitled to Associate Membership (AIOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). The qualification also meets the academic requirements for Technician Membership (Tech IOSH) of IOSH and Associate Membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).
 The syllabus consists of three units that are separately assessed by written examination in English.
·         Unit ICC1: Management of international health and safety
·         Unit ICC2: Managing and Controlling Hazards in International Construction Activities
·         Unit ICC3: Workplace-based Practical Assessment
The NEBOSH International Construction Certificate will benefit construction organizations operating outside the UK, and multinational construction companies working to international standards who are seeking to implement good health and safety management across all areas of their operation.
Objectives
·         Understand the main requirements of the successful management of safe construction activities in line with the ILO conventions.
·         Understand the factors to consider when carrying out a site assessment; identify construction activity hazards, assess the risks and recommend control measures.
·         Identify the hazards & outline appropriate control measures in the following areas: movement of people & vehicles, manual & mechanical handling, work equipment, electrical, fire chemical & biological health, physical & psychological, working at height, excavation work & confined spaces & demolition.
·         Successfully carry out a safety inspection of a construction workplace identifying hazards, recommending control measures and preparing a management report.
Who Should Attend?
The NEBOSH International Construction Certificate has been designed to provide those working outside the UK who is making day-to-day decisions in construction work with the knowledge they need to ensure that the health and safety implications of their decisions are properly taken into account.
The NEBOSH International Construction Certificate covers all of the main principles relating to health and safety in construction work, including how to identify and control common construction hazards. It is suitable for:
  • Managers and supervisors working in the international construction industry.
  • Those who have responsibility for construction workers/contractors outside the UK.
There are no pre-qualifications for entering the course, but to ensure a good chance of success in the examinations, we strongly recommend that candidates have:
·         Previous experience of health and safety in the construction.
·         A good standard of written English.
Assessment
Units ICC1 and ICC2 of the NEBOSH International Construction Certificate are each assessed by one two-hour written examination. Unit ICC3 is assessed by a two-hour practical assessment carried out in your workplace (or on a construction site).
